The TRACHES Toolkit has been adopted across all 14 hospitals in Wales, with some impressive outcomes. The toolkit has been shown to improve patient safety, reduce length of stay and reduce adverse events in adult patients in hospital with a tracheostomy.

Following this success, the toolkit is now expanding to cover:

  • paediatric tracheostomy care
  • community tracheostomy care
  • patient-facing self-management app, TRACHEShub
  • managing a safe and efficient tracheostomy service

We are hosting an interactive 60-minute live virtual event for all healthcare professionals in Wales who care for an individual living with a tracheostomy, in hospital or in the community, reflecting on these findings and unveiling the new toolkits. This engagement event will be hosted on Microsoft Teams and the event link will be sent out on the morning of the event.
