All-Wales Adult Asthma Diagnostic Guidelines – ICST

All-Wales Adult Asthma Diagnostic Guidelines

The Adult Asthma work stream of the Respiratory Health Implementation Group (RHIG) have developed this All-Wales Asthma Diagnostic Guideline. The aim of this Guideline is to standardise practice across the country, to improve the diagnostic accuracy of asthma, and to signpost those patients who do not have clear evidence of the disease.

Key recommendations:

  • Assessing a patient with a potential diagnosis of Asthma
  • Demonstrate evidence of variable airflow obstruction using standard investigations; spirometry with reversibility, PEF diary, and FeNO
