An important step in the diagnostic work-up is a trial of therapy in a child with suspected asthma who are not able to perform the normal objective tests available to older children and adults. The important steps to a Trial of Therapy is to start preventer therapy for 8 weeks, reviewing therapy at 8-weeks, assessing response to therapy, stopping the therapy to assess whether symptoms return.
