Step 1: Confirm presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Step 1 of the All-Wales pathway (linked below) is to confirm the diagnosis of Bronchiectasis in patients with chronic sputum production and repeated courses of antibiotics, using high resolution CT scan. Once the diagnosis of Bronchiectasis is confirmed, confirm the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa by sending a sputum sample to the laboratory, and marking clearly that the patient has bronchiectasis.
