    On Friday 17th November 2023, we held an interactive 60-minute live virtual event for frontline teams about managing Exacerbations of COPD.

    The event was hosted by Dr Simon Barry (National Respiratory Clinical Lead, NHS Wales), and featured Professor Chris Butler (Professor of Primary Care and Lead Author for the PACE Study into Point of Care Testing CRP in AECOPD – linked below), Zoe Strawbridge (Advanced Public Health Intelligence Analyst, Public Health Wales) and Mike Jenkins (Consultant Paramedic, WAST).

      Point-of-care testing of C-reactive protein (CRP) may be a way to reduce unnecessary use of antibiotics without harming patients who have acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
