On Wednesday 24th July 2024, we held an interactive live virtual event for all primary and secondary care healthcare professionals who are involved in the management of patients living with chronic disease, about the benefits of creating expert patients. Evidence shows that expert patients have improved wellness and better outcomes. Data from app users in Wales have shown a 73% decrease in A&E visits and 50% decrease in GP appointments, as well as less reliance on rescue medication to stay well.
The event was hosted by Dr Chris Subbe, Acute, Respiratory and Intensive Care Medicine & Senior Clinical Lecturer, joined by Dr Simon Barry, Consultant Respiratory Physician, and Dr Sarah Williams, GP.
