Here is a list of the equipment required to perform an ELCBG:

• Vasodilator cream/ warm water
• Plenty of gauze (applying vasodilator cream, removing vasodilator cream, wiping away the initial drop of blood, holding on the ear to stop the bleeding)
• Lancet/ scalpel
• Capillary tube
• Blood gas analyser
• Connection between capillary tube and analyser
• Magnet and small metal pin to put into the blood sample to mix the blood and prevent clotting
