Decannulation of a tracheostomy in the weaning process

The final step of the All-Wales Pathway for weaning COVID-19 patients with tracheostomies (linked below) is decannulation. The decannulation should be performed during daylight hours with agreement from all members of the MDT members. Should a patient fail their decannulation, they should be escalated according to their pre-agreed escalation plan.
