Acute Kidney Injury in COVID-19

There are many potential causes of AKI in patients with COVID-19, however most will be caused by a pre-renal insult, acute tubular necrosis or a combination of the two.

The definition of AKI is found below.

AKI definition

It is identified by changes in serum creatinine which are now highlighted by electronic alerts appearing with the urea and electrolyte profile or by changes in urine output.
