Overview of NHS Wales Rehabilitation Framework

In this tutorial Dr. Fiona Jenkins provides a contextual overview of the NHS Wales Rehabilitation framework, including the four cohorts that may require rehabilitation, and how the rehabilitation services are being mapped across Wales to support these cohorts.

The NHS Wales Rehabilitation framework provides assistance to service planning for the rehabilitation of people affected both directly and indirectly by COVID-19. The framework was developed by Welsh Government and published in June 2020. It identifies the following four cohorts and focuses on the rehabilitation needs of people who have been directly and indirectly affected by COVID-19:

  1. Recovering from COVID-19
  2. Awaiting paused planned care
  3. Avoided access to care during the pandemic
  4. Socially isolated groups and groups that have been shielding
